Default How much does being in a guild help with Hall of Monuments?

Like everyone else who is excited for Guild Wars 2, I've been tackling my Hall of Monuments and I'm sitting at 13 points. While I know it takes time to get points, I'm curious if being in an actively involved guild really helps with getting everything done faster/more efficiently. I have never really been in a true guild as the only guilds I've been in have been with friends who currently have stopped playing, but I'm wondering how well a good guild can help getting Hall of Monuments completed.

Any opinions would be nice, thanks!

It can, definitely. People in my alliance routinely give away minis they don't need to allies/guildies that do. If someone has war supplies, they usually try to sell in-alliance first before taking to market. People are always offering and needing help on knocking out vanquishes and HM missions.

Depends how saavy you are. You can do pretty much everything yourself pretty easily until DoA and UW. Guilds are key to clearing those areas if you don't want to pay, have problems with pugs, or run tedious 7H setups.

friends help just as much as a guild would--being in a guild may or may not help (my guild is tiny and hasnt helped me at all).
that said, this late in the game, if you have not already gotten lots of minis and armors etc towards your HoM, being in a guild could fill in for years that others (like me) have played and accumulated stuff.

Joining a guild is a good idea, whether or not they help you with your HoM, you get to play with other people and learn the game from people who want to help you out.

The main reason I have a guild now is I've been trying to keep the guild I was in with my friends alive...but being the only one of my friends now playing, I've been thinking about letting it die and joining another one. I also have college and research to deal with so I didn't want to get to really active to the point that my work suffered.

That said and with the replies so far, it seems like being in a guild can help. My main obstacles right now getting to 30 are weapons and armor. Going back and getting protector titles will be easy, getting 1 PvP title will be interesting as I have never really done PvP, I've been doing Hero armor and miniatures just seem like a walk in the park since I've gotten the ones that cost money by luck.

I have my 50/50 and help other in missions and vq's as well as giving away mini's or hero armor at times. I fyou find an active ally watching or asking in AC for help can pay off.

PvP title i believe you can get via vq on lux/kurz lands ( depends if your lux or kurz as donation to your side is doubled so 5k lux/kurz rep becomes 10k to title ) - ive got to r11 luxon without doing any pvp at all.
Tbh a suggestion would be to do both the vq and ab/jq/fa - just incase you get put off with idiots in pvp you will still be able to vq abd earn faction that way.

The Factions titles are not counted to the PvP titles, the Zaishen Title is however.

Note though, that you only need rank 3 of either of the 3 titles above so that you can display the statue in your HoM (for the Zaishen Title that would mean 200 Zkeys).

I find that being in a dead guild is lonely and boring. I'm happy that I joined an active guild so when I need help on some quests or if I need/want something in particular, asking is always a good way to start.

Regarding HoM, a guild is not needed, but can help with anything going towards it.
Say you have trouble with one certain mission, but only need that one in master's towards a guardian/protector title track. If no friends are online and you're in a dead guild, how are you going to get help? Imo, no one pays attention to the guys who sit in the mission outpost asking for help.

If you don't need help for dealing with the required PvE content, then it's not really useful and could even slow you down (I usually run through dungeons/vanquishes/missions faster and with more ease with heroes than with other players).

However, it can help you on several other sides : elite missions (some are quite tricky to do alone), other titles/armors/weapons (trading with friends helped me a lot for consumable titles).
And if you happen to find some nice people, it will give you an incentive to play and to discover new aspects of the game. You don't need to be in a super-sized hyper-active alliance for that ; a handful of friendly players is enough

Which is not that hard to earn while doing the factions pvp arenas, 15-20 keys a week plus adding to your alliance total (which actually does require a guild to do) is not an impossible goal.

I did it, but I am burned out of JQ and FA.I can't make 3 rounds of JQ without a dishonor any more.

I'm a guildless Gladium with 45/50 in my HoM, which is 15 more than I had planned on, but I would think that being in a guild would facilitate HoM grind a ton. To do it on your own, you have to do a nuclear butt-ton either with heroes or with the zaishen quests. With a guild, it's a lot easier to do things on the fly.

My guild is coming up to it's 7th birthday I believe, and we're holding a party for it, including giveaways for HoM (which I'm farming as we speak), and we have things like lotto, and one of the officers has a stash of things up on the alliance website that anyone can ask for and claim for free.

Things like this are what you could miss out on, but it's entirely up to you!

Wow...that all sounds great!
I might want to hear more about your guild, are you all welcoming new members?

As much as I'd like to claim so. I have to admit, I would not have 50/50 without Guildies and Alliance members.

I prefer working on HoM without guildies. I don't even use people. When I do VQ's and missions, I run them with heroes since I can get it done faster and more reliably and whenever I want to. Sure it helps if you're guild sells stuff to guildies on the cheap, such as minipets or ectos, or happens to giveout good freebies. 1 months after coming back from a 2 year break and I'm at 30/50. I could easily hit 40/50 or 45/50 right now if I wanted to blow all my gold on weapons and armor. Aside from that, doing title synergy with ZVQ and ZB every day, you'll easily hit at least 25 titles in a single ZVQ cycle.
